After years of doing Burning Man I’ve decided it’s the Christmas holiday for bay area artists. We all stress out the weeks before making the perfect artistic gifts, getting the right swag, buying new outfits, deciding who your going to spend it with, prepping the food and drinks, inviting your friends, then loading your car with way more crap then you need and driving way too far to sit, talk, eat and get drunk. You don’t even have to like the holiday, but yet out of tradition and despite your grumpy anti BM ramblings, you participate and go. Then there’s the people who say they are going and then get too busy or something comes up. I look at them and think this is Christmas, why would you work on a holiday? You see I am a burner and here is my art update and just some of the people I will be sharing my holidays with.

I happened into the parking lot at my shop to see what I thought was a guy tagging. I was happy to discover an artist covering the junk on the streets with art. By the time I left the shop most of the art was gone. I did get one pc from a broken shelf to hang in my office. Thanks for the art!

Well we are finally here. The Snail is a BIG hit and everyone loves it. Our DMV shifts helping people register their cars went so smooth and visiting with people there is one of the highlights of my trip. The dust is bad, but one of the best nights was riding around with Kyrsten and Merrilee on bikes and running into wonderful snapshots of playa life that faded away with the next brown out and rain. Everyone out seems happy and ghost like alive in their dusty best.

The Girls loved the snail. Merrilee has story time in it each afternoon.

See you at home, back in West Oakland!
Opening Night Party at Camino’s Restaurant. The food was great, conversation, warm fire, warm night, and great cocktails. Here is a recipe, more or less, I picked up from the bartenders.
shot of pear Brandy
shot of port
half a shot of triple sec
5 shakes of bitters
twist of Meyer lemon
over Ice
Metal work I did for them
